This species features 10- to 16-inch, lance-shaped, grayish green leaves, offset on unbranched reed-like stems. Mature plants can reach 7 feet. The real show comes in late summer, when plants send up spear-shaped racemes, which soon open to an ascending tower of eye-catching yellow blossoms. Slender, orangish-red stamen thrust from these yellow two-lipped flowers like snakes' tongues. Beautiful! These are tropical Gingers and must be protected from frost. We ship large, Sprouted Rhizomes.
