Epiphyllum "Coral Dance" Sold out until Oct 1 2014
Nothing Could be easier than an Epiphyllum! Coral Dream has an extra-large bloom, 7 to 9 inches across, and the colors are stunning, as you can see. We recommend growing this variety in a hanging basket or heavy clay pot, as it can become quite top heavy. Epiphyllums are one of the most exotic and easiest to grow plants you can have in your garden. We are offering nice, Potted Plants of blooming size. Although a true cactus, in the wild they are found in the rain forests of Central and South America not in dry arid deserts. Generally, blooming season is late spring thru summer.
Branches grow 2 to 3 ft a year for this variety. Epiphyllums need filtered sunlight. 50% sun, 50% shade is ideal. In hotter climates up to 80% shade can be used. In winter the plants must be protected from freezing. Young tender growth should be covered at 36 degrees and under. They are best grown in pots, but may be planted in the ground and trellised with a little finessing. Grow like you would any cactus. Allow this plant to dry out before watering thoroughly. Epiphyllums do not like “wet feet”. Over watering is the easiest way to kill them. They are not picky about what you feed them. A balanced slow release fertilizer of 10 – 10 – 10 works very well.
