Dear Friends Brugmansia and Datura are some of the most rewarding plants we grow. They are breathtakingly beautiful, Fragrant, Bloom throughout the season, and Brugmansia are Perennial in the US. This means they come back, year after year. Most of the Brugmansia (Angels Trumpet) varieties we carry were developed in Germany and other cool climates in Europe. They may look Quite tropical, but they prefer an area with a dry moderate summer climate. In the hot, Humid South, (where we are) grow Brugmansia and Datura in an area with Morning Sun and afternoon shade. In drier parts of the West and North West, Brugmansia and Datura may be grown in more direct sunlight. Water well throughout the summer and feed generously. Any good garden soil will suit them. If you live in an area that experiences hard freeze, cut your Brugmansia back after the first frost, and Mulch well with leaves or pine straw. Remove the mulch in Early spring, so that the sun can heat the earth, and your Brugmansia can return. Datura are an annual that self seeds and generally returns from seed each year.
